Manchester United summer target Harry Maguire has broken silence about his failed move to Manchester United over the summer.
The Leicester City and England Centre-back was sensational at the World Cup which attracted the likes of Jose Mourinho who was reportedly in the market for a new centre back.
The Foxes were believed to have slapped a record-equalling £75million price tag on Maguire that deterred United – though Maguire is not sulking about failing to move to Old Trafford.
Maguire was the Foxes’ hero on Saturday after firing home a stoppage-time winner at Southampton.
Asked about the interest doing an interview on Match of the Day, he said: ‘There was obviously a little bit of interest, you’ve probably all seen.
‘The owners spoke with me and they reiterated that I wasn’t for sale at any price.
‘So I respected their decision, they’re the ones that gave me the chance to come to Leicester and play for such a great club.
So I respect that decision, and I just got my head down and got ready to play the season for Leicester.’
On getting back to the normality of the Premier League after the World Cup, Maguire continued: ‘It was tough, but I think that’s just part and parcel of the job. I’m sure all the rest of the lads will say the same. I want to be on that pitch.
‘We only had one weeks’ pre-season but I played at Man United, and obviously a little bit rusty myself but it was nice to be thrown straight back in and keep playing and that’s what I want to do in the Premier League.’
